Today, we begin at The End. Literally. At the very tip of Long Island's South Fork lies the small town of Montauk, aka "The End". In recent years city-folk and the like have flocked to the Hampton outpost for its authentic feel, but Montauk has been teaming with fisherman and surfers for generations.
One of the most unique factors about Montauk is its surf culture. For those who care to know, Ditch Plains Beach has claim to the best wave "break" in the state. This draws crowds of surfers in the region to cure their winter wave withdrawals. Though only the die-hard athletes dare to venture into the water during the cold season, summertime in Montauk effectively becomes a little slice of Cali.
For those exhausted from a day on the water, there's always Montauk Brewing Company. This quaint little taproom provides a much needed change of pace from sea to land. Whether you're a beer enthusiasts or just someone who enjoys a cold pint with friends, head over to Montauk's own to enjoy a glass straight from the tap. For only 8 dollars you get to sample 4 different styles of delicious craft brew. If you like your beer, we recommend their English style pale ale, "Driftwood Ale". If you don't know (or just don't care to) about craft beer, go with their "Summer Ale" for a light and tasty wheat ale experience. Regardless, Montauk Brewing Co. isn't but a short walk from the beach, so you're never to far from a cold one on a hot day.
Other than its iconic beach and drinking establishment, the town is host to numerous Montauk-only boutiques and restaurants for all of us shopaholics and foodies. If you want the perfect balance of chill beach vibes with accents of nature and luxury, head to New York's trendiest beach town for a laid back weekend getaway from the office.
